Mind = Monkey

We had our first lecture on the Intellect today with Mr Siddarth coming down from the Vedantha Academy!!! Before i proceed further, what i am writing down is again a crux of the crux provided. I will have to write down pages and pages if i have to put down what is in my mind. So kindly excuse. Now go ahead to something boring or something interesting. It is in the way you take it to be.

Though i was planning to listen to the whole lecture carefully, my mind took over my Intellect and i was sleeping for most of the lecture. At one situation it was so worse that, the person sitting in front of me was asking a question and i was sleeping nicely. Probably late nights was taking its toll.

Today was basically an awareness creating session. Now what exactly happenned!!!
A general question was put up - Are we all following the herd mentality?? Ya to an extent i can agree to this. Most of the people do what they are doing just because others are doing it or they are being forced to do and which they never want to do. People never muster their courage to do what they want. But let me see that in a different angle, in today's world a person survives only when he is able to bend according to the situations. Now if he doesnt do what other person wants him to do, then he/she is sure to face the axe.

When does this get over or Why does our mind do this...??
Well there are a few reasons as explained by Vedanta folks!!!

- We are so obssessed with our Likes and Dislikes that we dont tend to think outside that. Hatke, is it really bad to have our own tastes. When one says that we need to focus on what we are doing and only when we have our own Likes that we progress faster towards our goal.

- Another one, we always spend time about our past worries and future anxieties. Ya to an extent, i can agree to this but i seriously doubt whether it is really possible for a person to spend time concentrating on the present. Probably yes, for a saint. But are we human beings really prepared to attain that height. and is it feasible in this fast moving world. I dont think so, in fact close to impossible.

- The last was Desire for what you do not have. As John D Rockefeller (First billionaire) had answered for "How much money is enough money?" - Just a little bit more. Well i could seriously support my fullest to this point. We all run behind what we do not have. Though i really understand that a person is never contented with what he/she has, it is always possible for a person to control his/ her desires to an extent...

Well this was just the starting... Let us see what happens in the future (i meant our classes).
